Join us on Saturday, June 16 at 6 p.m. as we share foods from India at our Global Cuisine potluck. (If you don’t like indian – bring something of your choice). Chris Urick and Nan Cobbey took plenty of pictures and brief videos of their time in India and will have a show running during dinner. After dinner they will tell about some of the interesting encounters they had.
Don’t miss this adventure. If you want to see how they prepare some of the recipes they learned, come earlier, at 4:30, and watch Nan and Chris prepare five or more Indian dishes in St. Margaret’s kitchen. They plan to make Chicken Vindaloo, two kinds of dal, a special lemon rice with peanuts and curry leaves, and a sweet/sour eggplant sautéed with tamarind (if suitable eggplants are available), and parathas – a simple bread made from just water, salt and flour. You can expect to be served a “mango lassie” as well. That’s a popular Indian beverage made with yoghurt.
Everyone is invited. Bring a dish to share, your own beverage and perhaps a friend or two. Non-cooks are always welcome to provide ice cream or to help with clean up.
At their May meeting, the Vestry voted to sponsor the annual Belfast Has Pride parade and event. In addition a number of parishioners marched in the parade and others joined them an participated in the event at Steamboat Landing on a beautiful day in Belfast.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35.

From our Bishop – asking for support of the Al Ahil Arab Hospital in Gaza.
The Women of St. Margaret’s are hoping for applications from members and friends of our church for Canp Bishopswood scholarships. We offer 50% “camperships” for a one week stay and full scholarships for “mini-camp”, a three day experience for younger or first time campers.
If you are interested for a friend or family member, please e-mail Cindy Frost at [email protected] for an application.
A Bishopswood experience is a life affirming event. We hope our children experience it.
One of the initiatives from the Year of Nurture gathering was to reintroduce fair trade coffee at St. Margaret’s.
Mary Rackmales will have a sample on Sunday and we will start with the opportunity for parishioners to order, pre-pay, and purchase fair-trade coffee. Mary will share more information about this during our Engagement Party on Sunday.
The Vestry discussed and took action on the following at the meeting on Tuesday, May 8:
Dear friends and fellow cooks,
In this season of resurrection, both divine and earthly, I would like to bring back the GAME LOFT Friday dinners program. This program is so valuable to these kids. Here’s why: They are fed a nutritious meal 5 days a week at the GL, NO ONE IS TURNED AWAY. On Fridays, they have met their Federal nutrition requirements so all bets are off and they can have anything! Popular items are tacos, spicy international fare, homemade mac and cheese, lasagna. They aren’t crazy about fish dishes. This offering also helps the GL stretch their budget a bit. Given school vacations and summer break, it works out to about 8 Fridays per year. Of course, to make it really special, you can bring food, stay and serve and get to know the kids and they you!!! That really is the best part.
Here is a brief 101 refresher course in how it works:
sign up sheet on t/t table
casserole dishes on t/t table
4 casseroles are needed for one Friday per month – probably the last Friday as before
cooked and ready to serve delivered by 5 – handed off at GL to a Gamer for delivery upstairs
need to be reheated – deliver by 4 as above
may be delivered to ALL ABOUT GAMES store below GL any time during that day with instructions
I would very much like to hear from you soon: If you’d like to be a cook; If there are times you are not going to be available to cook (this helps in planning a rotation of cooks); any further ideas you may have, please share.
GAME LOFT has been an integral part of St. Margaret’s church since it began 20 years ago. Let’s keep that relationship going and make it even better this time around!!! Please join us.
