Bagala Glassworks has completed the restoration and repair of our stained glass windows and they are being reinstalled.
The long awaited window restoration is now in progress.
Interesting times at St. Margaret’s … continuing Zoom services, stained glass removed and being repaired, light (and Light) pouring in from every direction –! Thanks be to God.
Our first Outdoor Service! Many of us hadn’t seen each other in person in 4 months. A blessed experience.
Requested by fellow a parishioner! Kristen Burkholder on vocals and Linn Johnson on piano, Sunday June 21 2020. “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” often called “The Black National Anthem” was written as a poem by NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson (1871-1938) and then set to music by his brother John Rosamond Johnson (1873-1954) in 1899. This song is in the Episcopal hymnal, pg 599 under the category “Christian Responsibility.” Amen!
St. Margaret’s Episcopal is in Belfast, Maine, the only Episcopal church in Waldo County. We are a vibrant faith community of individuals from here and away, year-round and summer residents, cradle Episcopalians and people who grew up in the other faith traditions and Christian denominations, questioners, and seekers. We are all ages, single, married, partnered, divorced, and widowed. We come from a spectrum of political beliefs and are united in our commitment to the Body of Christ. We share a variety of spiritual practices and liturgy throughout the week that are both traditional and contemporary. We recognize that worship includes transformative service in our local community and in the world. Wherever you are on your path, all are welcome. We are currently streaming our Sunday worship services at 9:30 a.m. on ZOOM. If you would like to participate, please sign up for our e-newsletter (which provides the link) on our website homepage.

If this summer does not move forward as scheduled, camp families will have the following financial options: Get a full refund, including deposit, by checkOr if you’re in a position to do so, donate some or all your 2020 camp fees to support Bishopswood, so that next summer can be the best summer ever! Bishopswood will not be asking for the May 1 payment or be processing those who signed up for three automatic payments at this time. Regardless of what summer 2020 ends up looking like, they will continue to support the camp family and community in any way they can. St Margaret’s is joining with other parishes in GBAM to provide take-home comfort food for Tall PinesStaff. We have committed to one day per week, Monday May 4 to start, and we are looking for people who will shop and who will cook. Here’s how it is going to work:
Five cooks will prepare a dish with 12 servings at home each week. Kristen Burkholder will pick up the food from your home and deliver it to the parish refrigerator on Sunday late afternoon. On Monday AM John Nieman will repackage the food into 2-serving containers provided by hospice. He will then clean and return your labelled containers to you, and Kristen will deliver the servings to a refrigerator located just outside of Tall Pines for staff to grab and go home.
This week we have offered meatloaf and mac & cheese, so you may pick which dish you prepare. You will also need to prepare 6 labels listing the ingredients for John to attach to the 2-serving containers.
We need as many volunteers as we can get so no one has to do it every week!
You may
1. volunteer to cook
2. volunteer to shop for those want to cook but do not want to shop
3. contribute money for those who want to cook but can’t manage the cost
We expect to be doing this once a week for several weeks so please let Bonnie know what you would like to volunteer for and when you are available.
The cooking should be done on Saturday at the earliest, so the food is not held too long in refrigerators.
This is a plane we are building as it is flying, so we will let everyone know as we gain experience and might need modifications!
