Our biannual “KNIT-A-THON” will be held on May 8th from 9:00am – 6pm outside on the lawn of St. Margaret’s, weather permitting. Any and all are welcome to drop in with handwork or just for support. We will be raising money for the Belfast Soup Kitchen, an organization that supports many individuals in our area facing food insecurity and homelessness. Any and all donations are welcome. Checks can be made payable to The Women of St. Margaret’s (Knit-a-thon in the subject line) and brought to the event, or mailed to 95 Court St. Belfast, ME 04915.
Sunday, October 4th is the Feast Day of St. Francis and we invite you, your friends, and neighbors to bring your pets for the traditional “blessing of the animals” on the front lawn at 10:30AM. This is a long-standing tradition at St. Margaret’s and will continue despite the pandemic, but we do require that all humans wear a face mask!
St Margaret’s is joining with other parishes in GBAM to provide take-home comfort food for Tall PinesStaff. We have committed to one day per week, Monday May 4 to start, and we are looking for people who will shop and who will cook. Here’s how it is going to work:
Five cooks will prepare a dish with 12 servings at home each week. Kristen Burkholder will pick up the food from your home and deliver it to the parish refrigerator on Sunday late afternoon. On Monday AM John Nieman will repackage the food into 2-serving containers provided by hospice. He will then clean and return your labelled containers to you, and Kristen will deliver the servings to a refrigerator located just outside of Tall Pines for staff to grab and go home.
This week we have offered meatloaf and mac & cheese, so you may pick which dish you prepare. You will also need to prepare 6 labels listing the ingredients for John to attach to the 2-serving containers.
We need as many volunteers as we can get so no one has to do it every week!
You may
1. volunteer to cook
2. volunteer to shop for those want to cook but do not want to shop
3. contribute money for those who want to cook but can’t manage the cost
We expect to be doing this once a week for several weeks so please let Bonnie know what you would like to volunteer for and when you are available.
The cooking should be done on Saturday at the earliest, so the food is not held too long in refrigerators.
This is a plane we are building as it is flying, so we will let everyone know as we gain experience and might need modifications!
On March 14th the Women of St. Margaret’s will host their biannual Knit-a-Thon to raise money for a community cause. The recipient will be Paws Adoption Center in Camden. Though the event is termed a knit-a-thon, any and all handwork is welcome. Lessons on knitting, project support, great company and delicious food will be available. The event will take place at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, in Belfast from 8 am to 8 pm. Participants may stay for an hour or two, or spend the day! For more information and a sponsor form, visit http://www.stmargaretsbelfast.org/knit-the-community/ or contact Jillian at [email protected] or Sara at 978-325-0045.
St. Margaret’s was well represented on this beautiful Saturday morning as the parade marched from the High School through town.
At their May meeting, the Vestry voted to sponsor the annual Belfast Has Pride parade and event. In addition a number of parishioners marched in the parade and others joined them an participated in the event at Steamboat Landing on a beautiful day in Belfast.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35.
