Knit-a-thon to benefit Soup Kitchen

The Women of St. Margaret’s invite you to join them for a KNIT-A-THON

Saturday, November 17, 2018
8am to 8pm
St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 95 Court St., Belfast

All proceeds will be benefit the Belfast Soup Kitchen. Donations of non perishable food items are also accepted.
How does it work?
Participants should complete the donation/sponsor form prior to the event. The idea is to get sponsors to make flat donations, or donate based on the amount of hours the participant will be knitting. For example, a sponsor may give $5.00, or offer to pay the knitter $2.00 per hour. Any and all are welcome, and while knitting will be the focus, other fiber artists are more than welcome to join the event. FMI visit stmargarets- belfast.org or contact Sara at 978-325-0045 or Jillian [email protected].

Annual Blessing of the Animals

Our annual Blessing of the Animals coincides close to St. Francis of Assisi’s Feast Day, which is on Oct. 4th. This Sunday we had many parishioners and newcomers bring their pets. It was exclusively dogs this year, but someone did have Rev. Ineson bless their cat’s picture on their cell phone.

Adult Ed back by popular demand

About 25 parishioners participated in discussion of the Prayer Book with particular focus on its use in our individual and corporate spiritual life, facilitated by Deirdre Good and Julian Sheffield. These discussions will take place on Sundays from 9 to 10 a.m. in the parish hall as part of our Adult Education ministry.

We are using the Prayer Book itself and Derek Olsen’s “Inwardly Digest: The Prayer Book as Guide to a Spiritual Life”.

The next corridor exhibit for September and October will feature the paintings of our supply priest Steve Smith.  In addition to viewing the show on Sundays, it will be open to the public on Tuesday mornings from 9am to noon.  Steve has written:

“Painting has been a wonderful gift to me in this season of life, a solace in the midst of the crazy times in which we are living. Painting continues to offer ever new and surprising ways to ground myself in the glory and mystery of creation.  In time, it has become my joy.”
